Risk Management Limited were commissioned to undertake a Phase II Site Investigation to inform the design and demolition of existing buildings and construction of 6 new industrial units with external hardstanding.

Intrusive Fieldwork

Intrusive fieldwork consisted of 3 No. Cable percussion boreholes, 6 No. drive-in-sampler boreholes, 6 No. MEXE probe tests, 1 No. Mechanically excavated trail prit, BRE 365 test, infiltration soil test and land-borne gas monitoring.

Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing included Natural moisture content tests, Atterberg tests, Quick undrained triaxial compression tests, Dynamic headspace analysis, Asbestos identification, pH and Sulphate tests, Soil contamination test and WAC tests.

Risk Management Limited were commissioned to undertake a Phase II Site Investigation to inform the design and erection of a 2 No. blocks of 3-storey properties, including roof terraces with an attached commercial unit to one of the terraces with associated car parking.

Intrusive fieldwork consisted of 1 No. Light-percussion boreholes up to 12m depth, 4 No. drive-in-sampler boreholes, 6 No. dynamic probe tests, 1 No. falling head permeability test, land-borne gas monitoring and photoionization detector (PID) monitoring.

Laboratory testing included Natural moisture content tests, Atterberg tests, Quick undrained triaxial compression tests, Dynamic headspace analysis, Asbestos identification, pH and Sulphate tests, Soil contamination test and WAC tests.

Bourneside, Wentworth

August 2021

Risk Management Limited were employed to undertake a Phase II Site Investigation at an existing building to inform the design and erection of a detached, two-storey, replacement dwelling with basement served by a vehicular access ramp.

Intrusive fieldwork consisted of 3 No. cable percussion boreholes up to 20m depth, 2 No. Light-percussion boreholes up to 3.5m depth, 4 No. mechanically excavated Trial Pits, BRE365, soil infiltration tests, 4 No. MEXE probe test, 2 No. falling head permeability tests and land-borne gas monitoring.

Laboratory testing included Particle Size Distribution tests, Asbestos identification, pH and Sulphate tests and Soil contamination test and WAC tests.

Sundon Reservoir, Bedfordshire

June 2021

Risk Management Limited were employed on behalf of Affinity Water to undertake a Phase II Site Investigation at an existing reservoir to inform the design and construction of a new water condition plant.

Intrusive fieldwork consisted of 6 No. drive-in-sampler boreholes up to 9m depth, 2 No. hand auger boreholes up to 2m depth, TRL Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests up to 1.20m depth, 2 No. Soil Resistivity tests using a Wenner 4-point array, 3 No. falling head permeability tests and dynamic headspace analysis for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) using a Photo-inonisation Detector (PID).

Laboratory testing was undertaken in line with the Consulting Engineers, Mott MacDonalds, specification and included Natural Moisture Content tests, Atterberg Limit tests, Particle Size Distribution tests, Resistivity, MCV, MCV-Moisture Content Relationship, Lab CBR tests, Organic Matter, Carbonate Content, pH and Sulphate tests and Soil and Groundwater Contamination tests.

Groundwater and gas monitoring was undertaken over 4 visits and included purging, micro-purging and sampling of groundwater using either dedicated bailers or a Peristaltic Pump and low flow cell.
