RML were commissioned to carry out a Site investigation to obtain information on the concrete slab, sub-soil conditions and existing foundations at this site, together with some laboratory testing, in order to provide baseline information for subsequent foundation design by others.

Fieldwork

Fieldwork was undertaken in line with British Standards BS 5930:2015+A1:2020. 7 No. Concrete Cores, 1 No. Dual Sonic/Rotary Coring Borehole, 3 No. Drive-in-sampler Boreholes, 2 No. Mechanically Excavated Trial Pits and MEXE Probe CBR tests were undertaken as part of the investigation.

Ground Conditions

According to information published by British Geological Survey (BGS) the underlying geology at the site site is shown as being London Clay of the Eocene Period.

Laboratory Testing

Natural Moisture Contents, Atterberg Limits, Quick Undrained Triaxial Compression Tests, Unconfined Compression Tests, Chemical Analysis, Waste Classification Tests, Asbestos Identifications and pH and Sulphate Tests were the Laboratory tests undertaken for the project.
