Risk Management Limited were instructed to undertake a Phase I Desk Study/Tier 1 Preliminary Risk Assessment and a Phase II Site Investigation at The National Oceanography Centre in Southampton for the proposed erection of PV Panel Car Ports to external car parking areas.

Prior to intrusive fieldwork a Preliminary UXO Threat Assessment was undertaken and assessed a ‘high’ risk level to UXO at the site. Intrusive fieldwork was therefore overseen by a UXO specialist during drilling of 2 No. light percussion to 5m depth. A downhole magnetometer was used to ‘clear’ each 1m below drill depth before boring was continued.

Laboratory testing included Moisture Content tests, Atterberg Limits, Quick Undrained Triaxial tests, Particle Size Distribution tests, pH and Sulphate tests, Contamination tests and Asbestos identification.
