Risk Management Limited were instructed in May 2020 to undertake an intrusive soil investigation to provide information to allow the Consulting Engineer to assess reasons for subsidence at a warehouse unit in Chessington, Surrey.

The investigation comprised of 4 No. Light Percussion boreholes up to a depth of 8.00m below existing ground level, 2 No. concrete cores, 2 No. drive-in-sampler boreholes, 2 No. mechanically excavated trial pits and 1 No. hand excavated trial pit.

Following retrieval of soil samples from the boreholes a heave assessment and desiccation analysis from moisture content tests and Atterberg Limit tests were undertaken along with filter paper suction tests and Quick Undrained Triaxial tests.
